Are the pokemon in Pokemon Diamond different to the pokemon in other versions?

  • Yes I realise they have quite a few new pokemon, but I was wondering if they only have new pokemon without any of the old ones, or if you can have all of the old ones as well as new ones.
If so, then which old ones can you get in there? Can you get all of them, or just the Ruby ones, the Gold ones or the red and blue ones?

  • you can get all of them

  • Between Diamond and Pearl, you can get ALL Pokemon (including old ones) EXCEPT for the Starter Pokemon and Legendary Pokemon of previous games.
But you can still get those by trading or migrating.

  • They are different because they are in a different region

  • You can have all the pokemon(from the sinnoh dex), but there is a difference:

This Pokemon can you have in Pokemon Diamond but not in Pokemon Pearl

    Seel
    Dewgong
    Scyther
    Murkrow
    Scizor
    Larvitar
    Pupitar
    Tyranitar
    Poochyena
    Mightyena
    Aron
    Lairon
    Aggron
    Kecleon
    Cranidos
    Rampardos
    Honchkrow
    Stunky
    Skuntank
    Dialga

and this Pokemon can you have in Pokemon Pearl but not in Pokemon Diamond

    Slowpoke
    Slowbro
    Pinsir
    Slowking
    Misdreavus
    Houndour
    Houndoom
    Stantler
    Spheal
    Sealeo
    Walrein
    Bagon
    Shelgon
    Salamence
    Sheildon
    Bastiodon
    Mismagius
    Glameow

    Palkia
These are the Pokemon Diamond/Pearl exclusives

    Good luck !

  • In diamond and pearl u dont get the same pkmn like in pearl u can get purugly and in diamond u can get skunktank.
Unfortunately,in the sinnoh games,u cannot catch a lot of pkmn
u would get in the old games.Example:Larvitar,Tyranitar,Pupitar...
    !11111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go 2 psypokes.com and type in a pkmn u want 2 see in pearl/diamond and itll show wether u need 2 trade or where u catch it.

  • Well yes because some are in different regions. they don't have the same story E.G in Pokemon crystal you have to stop team rocket and you are in the Jhoto region but in diamond you are in the sinoh region and you have to stop team galatic. The games can be on different platforms aswell E.G Pokemon diamond is on D.S and Pokemon battle revolution is on Wii.

  • In diamond and pearl, you can get every pokemon that there ever was but a lot of them can only be obtained by trading or migrating from older games. You can only trade with other diamond and pearl games and you can only migrate pokemon from game boy advanced games such as ruby; sapphire; emerald. Since the only way to get pokemon from old games is with the ds, there isn't any way to get pokemon from game boy color games such as blue; red; yellow; sliver; crystal; gold, so if you want to get pokemon such as Ho oh, or lugia that can usually obtained in game boy color games, you can't unless you get them from a nintendo event that I don't even think they do anymore. So if you haven't gone to a nintendo event, the only way to get pokemon like ho oh; lugia; deoxys; jirachi is by searching for them in the gts. But technically, yes you can have every pokemon in diamond and pearl, but they can't actually all be caught in them

  • In diamond there are all the pokemon All the old and new

  • between diamond and pearl, you can get nearly all the pokemon except starters, but to do so, you need to do a few things.

some pokemon, like lunatone, you can only get by trading, migrating, or if you have ruby in the Gba slot, and go to a specific route in the games. for more pokemon like this, try seribii.

Some, wont be catchable in D/P so you'll have to igrate them from your gba games......as you prob know, you can only migrate 6 every 24 hours:P

the starters, i can give to you if you dont have them. infact, if there's any pokemon you'd like to trade, just gimme a p.m=)

    hope i helped:)

  • in pokemon diamond most of the pokemon are new. but there is a decent amount of old pokemon still that have moved on to the next generation.
There is still a decent amount of pokemon that are from the old generation games. such as ponyta, graveler, zubat ( which is very old) and kadabra. the events to get legenderies are all different. you cannot get old generation legendery pokemon without an AR-action replay. there are a very few amount of new legenderies in pokemon diamond. and out of that amount, there are only about two to three pokemon that need events to be caught, such as arceus or giratina.
there is no specific version of game that you can get old generation pokemon from. you can catch zubats-from gold version, macargo- from firered( if u want to know you can get it in stark mountain) and you can even get pikachu ( from almost all the versions)
there is no specific game that you get the old generation pokemon from. you can get a large variety. it is in fact that pokemon diamond has the most pokemon available to catch from all of the pokemon series games.
    hope i helped =)

P.S. sorry for the bad grammar.
