My 3 month old son vomits all day long is that normal?

  • since he was born he is been vomitting all day long. He is growing fine, his doctor says he is just fine, but i am worried. Could some one tell me is there anything I can do?

  • He might have an Acid Reflux problem. Ask your doctor or a professional about that. I'm sorry I can't give you the full details on it but they can most likely help

  • Is he actually vomiting, or spitting up?

Spitting up (milk oozes out of the mouth) is 100% normal. If baby is happy and gaining, it's a laundry problem. (And the amount is MUCH less than it looks)

If he's actually vomiting (unlikely if he's gainng as he should be), then you need to talk to the doctor again. There could be a physical problem, or he could be allergic to his formula, or something in your diet if you're breastfeeding.

  • No, it is not normal for your 3 month old son to vomit all day long. You do not say if it is a large or small amount, but in any event what I would suggest is that you talk to your doctor about the possibility that he may be allergic to the formula--assuming he is on formula. Be advised in advance many doctors do not believe in food allergies, and this is your child. You may want to try a non-cow's milk based formula.
All the best to you and your little one and glad to see you being pro-active as a mother.
    Hope this helps.

  • please get a second opinion. that is not normal at all.

  • take him to the ER, mother knows best..if you feel it's wrong, then trust your gut.
the same thing happened to my sister when she was a baby, the doctor said she was just spitting up and it was normal...well it ended up that she got an emergency surgery and was close to death/dehydrated..something about a small passageway somewhere or something.
just go to be on the safe side

  • I don't think that is a good thing. I would definetly get a second opinion or take him to the hospital.

  • I have been a Nanny for over 15 yrs... Pukie babies are common... But ask your doctor to check... we all have a little flap at the top of our stomachs and in Babys it isnt always developed till they are older... My neice was the same and it worried me to.... Just make sure after feedings you dont have him lie flat or sitting so his belly is squished... Kinda leaning back.... lazyboy style... Make sure He burps ... after each feeding... and he may require feedings more often do to spitting out/up so much... Like before... ask a nurse/ doc.... just to make sure ... Good Luck and Enjoy your Gift of Life....

  • My daughter spit up across the room when she was that age! She inherited a problem with the valve that keeps stuff in your stomach from her dad. If it just looks like spit up and she's growing, then that might be the problem. Later on she might have heartburn problems.

  • He may have reflux or if you're formula feeding then you need to change the formula due to a possible milk allergy.

Bottom line, let your pediatrician know that it hasn't stopped, and if he/she doesn't do anything, go get a 2nd opinion!

  • let your peads Dr know. If you are not breastfeeding then you may need to switch formula. he may not be tolerating the one you are using. also try a different kid of bottle. Like dr. browns. The most important things is that he is staying hydrated. Make sure his mouth is wet between his cheek and gums and that he has wet diapers - like 8 a day or more.

  • Take him to another doctor. He may have acid reflux.

  • My son used to projectile vomit. It has gotten better but he still does have acid reflux. He stoped the projectile vomiting @ about 4 months old and has only done it a few times since then. See about getting some liquip presciption zantac, thats what my sons on.

  • My daughter was doing that when she was first born. This is nine months ago, just so you know it was recent. And it turned out she was allergic to dairy.Took her to the doctor and he put her on a soy based formula but also it turned out she is allergic to soy to so now shes on infant neocate!!!Bring that up to your doctoralso if you have wic you can tell them you want to soy formula its by similac to its the one in the pink can!!!Hope this helps. But i really dont think thats normal!

  • it is not normal for him to be throwing up all day he could dehydrate if he throws everything up sorry, but what the h*** is Ji talking about

  • Is it spit up or vomit?
Spit up is normal, vomit is not.

  • it sounds like spit up, not vomit. some babies spit up more then others, unless it is projectile throw up, there is nothing to be worried about.

  • yeah, but make sure it is not black (bile), or you should take him to the ER.

  • I'm not sure why you are even asking this here. I'd take him in for a check up at the very least. Why take any chances with something so precious?

  • No that is not norma. go see another dr
