What are some traditional things (foods, customs, etc...) I can do with my Jewish boyfriend for the holidays?

  • My boyfriend's family lives in another state, and he won't be around them for the holidays. I'm not Jewish, but I know that his family is traditional. I wanted to do something nice for him to cheer him up for the holidays. What are some traditional Jewish customs or foods that will make his holiday brighter and more like home?

  • 1. Potato latkes. A seasonal food. Thick potato pancakes. A lovingly-remembered childhood food for anyone brought up Jewish.

    2. Candles in a menorah. The traditional Hanikah menorah has 9 candles. One is lit every night, then used to light one for each night--so the first night you have two, the second night three, etc.

    3. Hanikah gelt - traditionally it was money given to children but often it was those chocolate coins covered with gold foil. Which small kids would rather have anyway.

    4. Dreidel. A gambling game played with a little top. Played by kids right after they get their chocolate gold coins! 8^)

    5. Most important. Spend time together, hugs and kisses in front of the fire, etc. Just like Christmas.

  • hannukah!!!!!!! the eight days and candles. just search online. sorry i am not as much help, but instead of waiting for someone to search and answer this for you why dont you search and answer yourself?

not as much time. plus people are not accurate. the internet is!haha.

    :D
