Is anyone else in agreement with this? Strapless! Everywhere! Its almost like "I give these tatas to this man, so long as we both shall live!" On most girls, this isn't the most flattering cut anyway, but that is all there is in the stores.
Opinions please. I hope this isn't considered chatting, but oh well.I don't necessarily agree that these dresses are slutty, but if you look back in history, one can understand why that term might be considered an appropriate description.
Even as we speak in certain religions, strapless dresses are not allowed in certain church/synagogue ceremonies. Many women getting married in the Roman Catholic Church for example are having a tough time finding dresses that will meet their ceremonial requirements.
The simple reason is supply and demand. If brides keep buying strapless dresses, then designers will keep making them. The more women that start requesting a more modest dress, then designers will start putting more out there.
I think what has really ruined us women that prefer an "unstrapless" dress is the term "modest".
Since when did a capped sleeve or off the shoulder banded neckline become modest? The word "modest" it sounds like we need to walk down the isle in a chastity belt.
I am a wedding dress designer and I am going to be working on a line for next year that will include several options for the "unstrapless crowd" until then this is my absolute favorite modest wedding dress

hang in there "unstrapless" brides help is on the way!I would disagree with the description as 'slutty' because many strapless dresses can be very nice and not slutty at all.
But I do agree with your frustration that 99% of dresses in the stores are strapless and it does suck when that isn't something you want to wear.lol great wedding vows btw.....
I've seen a lot of 'slutty' bridal dresses that are supposed to be sexy...but are very, very tasteless...my grandmother would call them 'hoochie-coochie' lol.......that I don't get.
I don;t necessarily consider strapless to be slutty...I'm just so tired of the same dress ......strapless with pick up skirts....getting to be a d@mn uniform.....these gals want weddings that are different and not 'cookie cutter' but then they all pick the same danged dress??????
Here's hoping for some change in bridal styles.....really, really soon. It's very simple - just don't choose a strapless dress! It's because no one can be bothered to spend the time to find a proper dress. I know I couldn't - I settled for a sleeveless dress. As it turns out the store carried a "modest" line (not really modest, but they were dresses that you could comfortably wear, even to church, without a cover up). Of course I didn't discover this until after ordering, because they didn't advertise it.Most people do not consider strapless slutty, I certainly don't. If you are extra modest though, there are plenty of places that sell dresses with sleeves, or jackets to go over the dresses. The ones I consider slutty are the halter dresses that are so low cut that everything except the nipple is showingSlutty, uh no, not if it's well made and fits the wearer properly, I have see much worse. I'd rather see a well made strapless dress on a bride then some over embellished sequins on sequins more lace than fabric pouffy nightmare. They are done to death though. As someone who is short with broad shoulders and big boobs they just looked silly on me and it was very hard to find a dress with sleeves. Hopefully this trend will pass soon.my dress is also strapless but not slutty, i looked and looked for one that was me, and not one that showed off my tatas, (which i do not hae anyway)
you just have to look until y find "your" dress, and one that does not make you look slutty
I don't think all strapless dresses look slutty. However I also do not think strapless gowns are appropriate to wear for a religious ceremony. Would you wear a strapless dress to church on any other day with out a sweater covering your shoulders? I've never even seen anyone wear anything sleeveless to church, and my church is quite a young crowd. And yeah, I know not everyone has religious ceremonies. But if you're getting married in a church with a religious ceremony I think your dress should have a certain level of modesty. The reception? Take your shurg or detachable sleeves off and have some fun.I don't believe that all strapless dress are slutty.
The dress im wearing is a beautiful spagetti strap a-line dress!
Its light gold with a gold sash and its simply stunning.
My maid of honor saw it on me and her mouth dropped open.I don't think that strapless is slutty. My dress is strapless and I have DD breasts and it covers then completely. I don't have one ounce of Cleavage hanging out. It is all in the style strapless you get, there are some out there that are risky but definitely not all.I don't think that no straps makes a wedding dress slutty, it just means there aren't straps, a lot of other cuts are a lot more low cut. I personally don't like a lot of the halter types because they seem to be too revealing, alright for a knock out evening gown, but not a wedding. Just my opinion though. Why is strapless slutty? I think you are defining slutty in all the wrong manner. There is nothing wrong with showing a little shoulder or back. I don't agree with your boobs hanging out. But, there is a difference between a dress looking slutty and a dressing being unflattering.
I'll agree that many girls where strapless dresses and they really should not. Do they look slutty? Hardly!! They just could have picked a more flattering gown.
Personally, I think there are many classy looking strapless gowns for girls who can pull off the style. For girls that can't, there are many gowns with straps (including halters and such).
But, is it far to say an unflattering gown looks slutty? NO!!! Slutty is something completely different. Slutty is having cut-outs in your wedding dress or a dress so low in the back, your butt crack hangs out.
Strapless is not slutty, it is classy. It's classy on the right type of body. It's not slutty if the style isn't flattering.I don't think strapless equals slutty. However, there are lots of wedding dresses out there that are pretty trashy - super low cut, lots of skin showing, etc. I do not think that is appropriate for a wedding since no one needs to see the bride like that except for her husband.
Strapless dresses are what has been popular for the past few years. My dress was strapless but I had lace cap sleeves sewn on because I don't particularly like my shoulders.I don't think strapless is slutty at all. There are some beautiful dresses that are strapless. I'm not a fan of spaghetti straps btw.
Edit: Why 2 thumbs down??? I just said I wasn't a fan of spaghetti straps. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I'm not going to judge them for their likes and dislikes, so they shouldn't do the same for me. I didn't say I hated spaghetti straps, they're just not my style.I have to disagree with you on this one. I understand what you're saying about it not necessarily being the most flattering of cuts for some women, but I don't think it constitutes being "slutty". This is an image of the wedding gown I will be wearing for our January wedding, and I definitely don't feel it could ever be called slutty. Just my opinion.
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii186...strapless doesnt make a dress slutty, showing cleaveage does, BIG differenceMy wedding dress was strapless and it was extremely modest.
Good luckI don't think strapless are slutty, I just don't like them because they're overrated in my opinion.
I'm wearing a spaghetti strap sweetheart neckline dress. I don't think it's being slutty, but complimenting to my figure.
I wouldn't be so bitter, it makes you look jealous ~_^
Here's a slutty wedding dress: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h...

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2172/2345...well i believe a slutty dress is something really short, low cut v neck, or sheer on almost the whole thing. i have double d boobs and a tiny waist and the strapless gowns i tried on were not slutty. they actually cover up so u have no cleavage showing. i did end up going with a halter top but that was because none of the strapless had the pearl beading i was looking for. and as a girl with "huge tatas" a strapless and a sweetheart neckline are the best looking ones for me.http://www.flickr.com/photos/31520410@N0... My dress is strapless but definitely not slutty. Er, I don't think strapless is slutty at all. The only thing that shows is the shoulders which you would see anyway in a spaghetti strap, off the shoulder and to some extent a halter dress.
Personally I love strapless dresses because they look better on me than any other style. A well fitted dress willl keep the brides breasts in and well covered and make her look classic rather than exposed. There are stores that sell more modest dresses. Check out the website www.beautifully modest.com and you can find stores that carry their dresses.
Also there are some designers who will do "temple ready" gowns. Some of them are nice. You can also wear a bolero jacket over the strapless dress. There are churches that do not allow strapless gowns. Just because it's the "style" doesn't mean it's acceptable to everyone. And you have a right to your feelings. Actually, I admire you for what you are saying. Good luck in your search for the perfect dress ! ! !do a search on "modest wedding dress" you will get a lot of mormon sites. mormon weddings require a neckline to the collarbone and sleeves. That doesn't make a dress slutty; what are you talking about! Strapless is just the style of the year, so yes; it is unfortunate if you don't like it, but there are SOME shops that stock other styles.
I've seen sluttier dresses, like those with sheer midriffs. I hardly think that showing your shoulders makes you a dirty trampStrapless is just fashionable nowadays. The next trend could be 3/4 sleeves - who knows. Strapless dresses are suppose to show off some shoulder and make the neck look longer.
Some brides look gorgeous in strapless dresses (and not slutty at all). But I agree that the style isn't the best for all. You can easily add sleeves to the strapless dresses in the stores - check out David's Bridals for their sleeve add on selection. Many people just add on spaghetti straps (though I'm always concerned that they would roll off but that's just me and my rounded shoulders!)
I don't agree at all. I don't think that having a strapless dress is slutty. Most strapless dresses I've seen and tried on are pretty modest in the chest area, unless you have huge tatas, which I don't anyway. I do agree with the others that it's just the fad of the year, so there is going to be a lot of it. However I've seen plenty of other styles of dresses in the shops. You're just focusing on it too much to see the others.
Oh, I do agree though that it's not the most flattering cut for most people. That's definitely true!I wore a bridesmaid dress low cut (<---picture) and I don't think it's "slutty".
Tasteful cleavage is not slutty. That's ridiculous.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
