I'm 29 years old and suffer from a mild form of autism known as Asperger's Syndrome. This may be a broad overstatement, but I think that women in our culture are pretty shallow. I'm always hearing them say they want a guy who's sensitive, intelligent, respectful, and well-mannered. I have all those traits, but I'm not swallowing it. Everywhere I look they're always hooking up with with the arrogant jocks who have no respect for women and curse like sailors. Either that or they go after the rich boys or the hardened criminals. I know of one girls who's infatuated with a guy in the state penitentiary. Go figure!
Anyway, I'm graduating from Texas State University in May with a degree in Geography and a minor in Anthropology. I just signed up for a work abroad program as I'm working on my Master's Degree. This program had a list of 8 countries. I already put Australia down as number one. The other 7 are Thailand, South Africa, Costa Rica, The Dominican Republic, Ecuador, New Zealand, and Eastern Europe.
They didn't say which country I would be going to in Eastern Europe. It just said "Eastern Europe." I don't know if I'll be going to The Balkans, Greece, Romania, Hungary, The Czech Republic, Poland, or one of the former Soviet Bloc countries. If you were a single American guy and you didn't want to have to worry about contracting AIDS, syphillis, or god-knows-what, which region of the world would you travel to?I don't know if you're into the online thing, or even considering it, but a good one is http://mingle2.com/ It's not -just- a dating site - I actually think it's more like Facebook, just not as big or popular yet. remember...what a woman says she wants and what she pursues is two different things...american women love the challenge of changing a man. ultimately they want the traits you listed... if you already have them...what the challenge in that? lol once you travel outside the usa...you get a totally different aspect on a woman's thought process. 1) Don't be arrogant. You are not better than everyone else. There are plenty of girls who are just as hard working as you all around you. I guarantee it.

My guy friends who give this rant are the mediocre looking guys who want the hottest piece of arm candy to see their soul from across the room and don't think they should settle for less. You are the guy sitting around saying he wants a "natural" looking "real" girl like Jessica Alba, but don't acknowledge all the $$ and self obsession it takes to look like that, yet you are far far far from Brad Pitt.
