Whenever i use swimming goggles, I always get a red rash around my eyes the next day.
I am a year-round swimmer and will be starting my high school swim team very soon...
other than going to the doctor ... is there anything i can use (like ointment or such) or do or what kinds of goggles should i use or is there anything that can help?
These are the goggles that i use now:

thanks!! :-)You solution is simple, get new goggles. I was a competitive swimmer for about 8 years and there were some people who had reactions to their goggles on our team. I can't tell 100% what type yours are. I've seen about 3 kinds while i was swimming. The ones with foam, the thick plastic and the very thin almost non existent plastic. Try switching to something else. Sure ointment or something might help but it won't solve your problem. New goggles are the way to go.Maybe you are allergic to rubber, or latex. It's a very common allergy. When you are at the doctor or hospital, tell them you have a latex allergy so that they will use latex-free gloves, if it turn out you have an allergy. It could be any number of things causing your reaction: your goggles, the chlorine in the water, or allergies. Just clean your face regularly and moisturize. You could also try taking Zyrtec and replacing your goggles. It does sound like you have contact dermatitis. Find out what material the goggles are made of - and try to find some that are made of a different type of latex or whatever. You may try using Benadryl or cortisone cream on your face as soon as you take the goggles off, to circumvent the reaction. It is a pain to have contact derm. to something you need to use daily -- I have become reactive to leather(as in shoes) -I'm OK in winter, as I can wear socks, but sandals, etc. are very hard to find where the leather can not touch my skin or I break out. Good luck.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
