In some countries, bracelets are given to those suffering from allergies. In others, not.
Like me, many people allergic to substances (medicine, food, etc) have no way to alerting others of their allergies if they are unconscious.
Say someone allergic to paracetamol is unconscious and taken to the hospital. Any injection made, may contain paracetamol as excipient.
What are the ways to alert people that you're allergic - if you're unconscious? a medi-bracelet is the best option, paramedics are trained to look for them as part of assessment of patient on sight of an accident... they can't administer drugs until they've checked... i have one, very useful :)in UK they have a necklace around their neck saying that you are allergic to so and so.............
not all injections have paracetamol
if they ask for help
and if you see any not right about the person face
good luckI agree with the bracelet idea. In addition, keep a list of your allergies and whatever medications you do take in your wallet. That way, they'll not only know your allergies, but also they won't give you medications that interact with your medications. Medical alert bracelet, wallet card, etc... In my country USA, one must take the initiative to buy one's own medical alert bracelet. They are not free. If you wear such a bracelet, with a clear medical alert symbol, engrave your allergies or conditions on it. In this way, medical staff at hospital will be alerted to your allergy. Some people in USA, usually men, instead use dog tags like the military uses.
Just have words PARACETAMOL ALLERGY engraved on the bracelet.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
