Can pregnancy cause you to be allergic to tomatoes?

  • I had a friend who loved and ate tomatoes her entire life and when she became pregnant, they gave her little sores all over her mouth when she ate them. After having the baby, it didn't happen anymore. I thought she was just nutty, but there's a possibility I'm prego now and I've always loved and eaten tomatoes, but I've been eating them lately and getting a yucky white film in the back of my mouth. What the heck?

  • Yes you can get funny allergies to things when you're pregnant. The immune system gets a bit messed up.
I developed bad hay fever while pregnant - it disappeared afterwards. My friend had a mild allergic reaction to peanut oil - which again disappeared after the birth.
