Help! Word 2000 closes constantly
When Word constantly closes unexpectedly, I suspect that normal.dot, which is the template for all new documents, is corrupt. Go to Go to Start/Run and type in "winword.exe /a" without the quotes. There is a space before the slash.
This starts Word without your normal.dot which is the template for all new docs. If everything works now either normal.dot is corrupt or some add-in is causing the problem.
Since this only happens with new docs I'm betting on the corrupt template. If this is the problem, with Word closed, press Win key + F and do a search for normal.dot. You must set the parameters to search in hidden folders because that's where this template is. Delete all occurrences of normal.dot (there may be more than 1) and restart Word. Word will create a new normal when it doesn't find one.
