Oxtender says Server is incompatible

Hello People,
today we tried to evaluate a fresh build of ox community edition 6.4.2 with uptodate oxtender and Outlook 2007. Server runs well as far as it seems, webgui and servlets are accesibble in a browser, tested with webdav.ical. We installed Oxtender in a uptodate Office 2007, which also installed ok. The problem is when we start Outlook we get a message which says the server is incompatible. Isn't the Oxtender not working with the community edition working at all ?
If it should work, any suggestions ?

Slowly this issue is becoming critical to us as we're loosing time for evaluation. Beeing able to use the community edition with buying connectors for the windows people here would fit good for us, if it works.I have to give responsible persons some definitive answers if it will work. Martin or any other experts at OX, can you shed a bit of light in here ? Any new estimates ? Any Progress ?

Hi Wilken,

currently, the Community Edition does not work together with the OXtender for Microsoft Outlook. This restriction is by intention but afaik it will be removed soon. Technically, everything which is required to connect Outlook is available at the Server, but the OXtender checks if it's a Hosting/Community Edition or a Express Edition.

As there are no answers when it is intended for oxtender for Outlook to work with the Community Edition we're thinking about using egroupware instead. I think that there is only one reason not to give any answer for your question: They don't want to let oxtender work with the Community Edition in the near future. We succeeded in installing OX after many hours of working and trying. But we did not succeeded in connecting any client sufficiently. (With every client there are "some" problems - e.g. Kontact does really work usefully in ReadOnly-Modus)

So, what did you decide to do? Are you willing to continue to wait for any answer - or are you looking for any alternatives like me? :mad:

it is helpful and also promising. Do you know any better estimate than "soon", at least if we're talking about weeks or month ?
