Best way to charge for ads on my website?

  • An initial ad listing fee?
    Per click rate?
    A monthly ad listing fee?

  • Better if you study other websites of the same nature and calculate the price.

Most classifieds websites charge nothing for basic ads. This is one conclusion.

They charge nominal charge for "featured" ads.

Then there are some websites who are really managed and monitored by humans but they charge good money for ads.

If your website is automatic and you have less labour involved you can charge less money but that give less quality.

If you have labor and give good customer service then you have the option to charge more as you give quality to your visitors and good customer service for your customers.

  • Go with the easiest options, where you don't have to monitor the ads yourself, use google adsense or yahoo ads, you can also checkout sites like bidvertisers, adbrite, adspace

there's a free script going around called ' the million dollar script ' http://www.milliondollarscript.com/ that allows you to sell pixel space..
Not one pixel literally but one square box is about 15x15 px, that counts as pixel, your advertisers can buy the space and pay you money.

another option is what i've been telling people, affiliate marketing
Just join any relevant affilate program. They not only pay you for sending them traffic (PPC) but also a commission if the visitors you send them buy anything from them.

  • Whatever you can get.As long as you get paid it doesn't matter.
