How can you be agood and caring home care worker?

  • Home working is usually a bit hard because there are so many thieves who are out to trick you. I have been working from home for the last month, I discovered some superb tips on the website in the box below which showed me the most effective route to go about it.

  • Are you talking about a home health aide or something similar? Are you a caring person? Do you genuinely like people and want to help them, even in sometimes the poorest of circumstances? Would you be comfortable or compassionate with close contact, even with sick or aged people, or those who can't do things for themselves? It is a gift, a calling that not everyone possesses. You ought to know yourself well enough to know if it would be right for you.

  • I think, besides being competent at your job, the next most important quality is being able to foster the relationship between the client and their family, rather than competing with them in some way.

My mother suffered from kidney failure her last few years of life. Dialysis helped her live reasonably well, but she didn't have the energy she'd had before. She was eligible for a program that provided a housekeeper for a couple of hours a week, which is a type of home care. It made it possible for her to live the rest of her life at home.

Well, one of those housekeepers got irritated when I happened to be visiting when she came. She kept making comments under her breath about how if Mom had a daughter, why did she have housekeeping help! Needless to say, Mom asked for a replacement!

It's too bad the housekeeper saw herself as my replacement. As far as I was concerned, a housekeeper made it possible for me and my mother to make the most of our time together, instead of me rushing around every week to catch up on her chores. I cherish the extra hours we had to talk and just enjoy each other. I wish the one surly housekeeper could have understood that, and taken satisfaction in making it possible. I very much valued what she did for my mother, and for me. It's too bad she couldn't value what I did for Mom, too.

  • Being a home care worker is very different for one reason, you are placed in their environmentt and must be able to accept the diverse ways people live. A patient allowing you into their home can be very hard for them and their families, you must be able to make people feel comfortable and conform to their lifestyles. It can be more rewarding than any other workplace. Patience is something that you must take with you.
    Good Luck
