  • Dear Fred, Before I forget, add "United Kingdom" as the last line of the address. Fred, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. And what timing - how do the powers-that-be do that, anyway? At least you sound in better spirits now and have managed to resolve some of your issues. I'm glad. It's really nice to hear from you after so long, you had me worried there for awhile. I bet you are now an "expert" on Tenncaid and Medicaid - they should hire you as a consultant! Thank you for the tip, Fred - here's a big hug for you. And get that gift in the mail soon so I don't have to worry about whether it will arrive in time for Christmas. Enjoy your turkey and all of the trimmings. Take care, hummer

  • Good morning, Fred, Good point, although it could make a rather interesting Christmas tale to tell in years to come, about how Fred's cinnamon powder got confiscated and finally arrived in time for Easter stamped "Safe to Eat"! 8-) hummer

  • Hi Hummer ! Long time ! Thanks for asking about my parents! Well..... as soon as we got it all "fixed".....mom DIED on August 19th @80 Was it expected -yes for 2 weeks Am I OK-Yea I am now ! Dad is in an assisted living facility in Chattanooga Tn and we're suplimenting his SS with cash values we pulled out of his life insurance. When that runs out I guess we will split the diff between me and my sister. Of course he might be MEDICALLY eligible for Medicaid at that time . The variables are his health , and whether Tenessee reverts back from Tenncare to Medicaid ( a difference I NOW understand all too well) Mom qualified all the way: Medically and Financially ( dad only financial) and was about to go from MEDICARE ONTO MEDICIAD but died THREE days before the long fought transition ! and so it goes! The postal code is to send a pal in Leeds a gag Christmas gift.. It would be a giveawy if I emailed him for his postal code and luckily I had the rest of his info from a visit last summer JUST before mom passed. Thanks for the help! You and Yours have a great Thanksgiving and thanks for asking about mom and dads situation after we all worked SOOOOO hard on it last Spring. Fred :) !

  • Thanks Hummer ! My pal Ian complained to me on the phone yesterday from Leeds that he keeps buying deoderant all the time because of "senior moments" ( gimme a break he's 26 !) and has a "stockpile" of deoderant at home. Youul never guess what his present is ! I AM EVIL:) Happy Thanksgiving fred

  • Hi Fred! Holy cow, I've never even been off of our continent, let alone around the world. Lucky you. You take care of yourself and come home safely. Bon voyage and Happy Holidays, hummer p.s You should've put "Do Not Open Till Christmas" on the package!

  • Merry Christmas Hummer ! Thanks for all your help this year I am off Sunday for an around the world trip with stops in China and Spain. The gag gift of deoderant was well recieved in Leeds ! Have a great holiday fred !!

  • I was def. careful to get a deoderant so that he gets the "joke" as he used the word deoderant on the phone...I also wanted to use one made by a unilever co as he used to work for them. Interesting on how to make natural The problem is: If US or UK customs opens the package enroute... and sees an un-identified powder traveling thru US or British mails.... ah it could be a problem ! :)) thanks ! fred

  • Hi Fred, I'm glad to hear he uses deodorant rather than antiperspirants. How about sending him some homemade stuff, packaged in a nifty Dollar Store container? "Most people think that antiperspirants and deodorants are the same thing, but they aren?t. Antiperspirants work by clogging, closing, or blocking the pores with powerful astringents such as aluminum salts so that they can?t release sweat. (Note that aluminum can accumulate in the brain.) Deodorants work by neutralizing the smell of the sweat and by antiseptic action against bacteria. Deodorants are preferable because they don?t interfere with sweating, a natural cooling process." * Basic Deodorant Powder 1/2 cup baking soda 1/2 cup cornstarch a few drops essential oils such as lavender or cinnamon http://www.care2.com/channels/solutions/guides/114 Cheers, hummer
