Newbie: Where is the doc that explains Prototype/jQuery interface?

  • I want to start using ext but also am in the process of choosing a framework (Prototype or jQuery) and I don't understand what the various folders in /adapter are used for. Just point me to the doc and I'll read about it myself. I just can't find the doc!

    TIA,

    Larry Woods

  • The adapters provide the very basic functionality that Ext relies on (things such as basic Ajax functionality, simple DOM manipulation and other things).

The behaviour of Ext doesn't change with any adapter, so you can choose whichever suits your needs.

That being said, it is probably best to use the Ext adapater if you have no other reason not to, because versions changes in jQuery/Prototype could break the adapter and they generally take longer to get fixes for.
