XBMC deinterlace methods?
it looks exactly like the pictures in this thread (http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/cgi-bin/forums/ikonboard.pl?act=st;f=3;t=16071;st=0).
with de-interlacing set to none the interlacing artifacts are clearly visible, so de-interlacing is needed - if it could just be 'antialiased' it would be beautiful.
using the 4/10/2006 build. can this be improved or can we get access to the 'other' de-interlacing methods mplayer provides?
i'm not too familiar with mplayer's deinterlacing methods, but it would be nice if the preferred method could be set from the settings | video screen. it seems that whatever method xbmc is hard coded to have mplayer use doesn't work well with higher resolutions.
should i post this to the feature requests forum? i know we're in feature freeze but this is a bit of a bug as far as my setup goes. i think this would make xbmc better for those of us with progressive hd setups. and thanks for all the hard work on this killer app... it just keeps getting better!
mplayer uses cubicipoldeint, and dvdplayer uses ffmpegdeint
i only need deinterlacing when streaming a dvd .iso image via smb or reading from the dvd-rom drive. i assume in both cases this would be using dvdplayer rather than mplayer.
is it possible to get dvdplayer to use a different deinterlace method, like something similar to the .conf file trick for mplayer? then i could experiment and report back on which method looks best.
thanks for looking into this elupus.
