accidentally erased xboxdash.xbe

  • Hi! I accidentally deleted my xboxdash.xbe to my computer. I have a backup of the file and I need to put it back on the Xbox (i get the red flashing LED and maintenance screen). However, it won't start up the ftp server without the xboxdash.xbe.

What's the best way to get the file (xboxdash.xbe) back on the /C/ partition?

I do have an action replay kit.

    Thanks!

  • There is a search engine called Google (http://www.google.com)...

Then you search for 'Xbox boot dashboard from cd (http://www.google.nl/search?q=Xbox+boot+dashboard+from+cd)' or something like that.

If your lucky you find a nice tutorial:

For more information about the modding and fixing your Xbox, you might wanna check Xbox-Scene (http://www.xbox-scene.com).

  • Sounds good! OK, can you tell me which files I'll need? Or how to do this? I apologize for needing so much help, I'm kind of new at this.

    Thanks!

Now that was unneccessary. I actually did search, and found little (I didn't have the exact phrase right).

Let me guess, I called myself a noob, and seemed sheepish so you smelled blood?

I wonder if you talk like that to people in real life.

  • I cant tell you which files you need exactly because its dependent on which dash you choose. It's typically a default.xbe file, a config file (ini or xml), and possibly a resources folder (usually containing skin stuff).

    http://www.xbox-scene.com/software/software.php?page=dashboards

There's an opendash that you can download legally from there. I've never used it but as long as it initializes the network and give you ftp access, it'll be good enough.

    moved to the xbox forum.

  • burn an ftp enabled dash to cdrw as default.xbe. it'll boot.

Sounds good. I've got a ll the stuff and will give it a try. Thanks!
