Job Seekers Allowance Help? Urgent!?
Ive been unemployed since April, and received a letter on Friday stating that i am entitled to JSA from the 11th November. My first signing in date is this Thursday. When will i get my first payment?
Also, i first tried to claim on the 13th October, over the phone. I never received a call back, despite phoning several times and leaving my name and number with operators to call me back. I then managed to go into the Job Center (i couldn't afford the bus fare of £8 until a few weeks later) and they gave me an appointment time. I managed to get a lift in for the appointment, but my friends car broke down and i was too late for the appointment. I was told i would receive a letter with a new interview date on, but never did. I had to wait again until the start of November to be able to afford to go on the bus and re arrange in the Job Center. I was told on the phone that i could backdate my claim, but i have been told that this isn't a good enough reason. Is that right? I have been waiting for them to contact me for months, and i wont get paid because they didn't call me back like they promised?
Secondly, ive joined temping agencies and have been told that i may get a job for a week just before Christmas. Obviously after that week i wouldn't be able to find work straight away, what do i have to do about JSA in that case? Can i just stop it for a week?

Your money will go into your Account 3-5 days after you sign make sure they Backdate every penny your owed.
Don't bother with a Job for one week it will just mess up your Job-seekers Allowance believe me i made that mistake once myself.
If you go to the Jobcentreplus Website you can E-Mail them a Complaint. If you tell them your story they might help you with it!
