K, I'm networked - how 'bout file-sharing

  • k, so, i finally bought a wireless router and have my xbox on the network. both my pc and my xbox are set to attain the ips automatically, etc. so, i can now take advantage of the streaming shoutcast radio stations, etc. what i want to do now is be able to 'see' the pc from the xbox and vice-versa from the pc end. so, in the file screen, you can 'white-click' (i think) and add a share, but i'm not sure of the format of the http:// or ftp:// string i would need to use ??? is there somewhere i can find an easy step-by-step type instruction ??? thanks in advanced !!!!

  • okay, that sounds easy enough, but don't i actually have to add a path as a share on my xbox ??? like, i would "add share", and then what would the actual string be......something like http:// / .....that's what i can't figure out. it won't automatically be shown on the xbox once i share it on my pc will it ???

  • on your pc you first need to set a shared folder. this is done by right clicking on a foder > goto sharing tab > ckick on the sharing box and click apply. now the folder should have a sort of had icon on it. now on your xbox goto smb shared and locate the folder and voila you can now see the media from your pc on your xbox.

  • you don't have to make anystrings or anything. all you have to do is make sure that the folder your content is in is available on the network and it wil show up in the smb workgroup folder on your xbox.
