Changing to a new server

  • Hi,

Before I write the info I just wanted to know, I will change my server to another one and found a type of server. The only main difference is that the HDD's are 5400 RPM.

    Details of 5400 RPM HDD's:
    Athlon™ 64 X2 BE-2350
    Dual-Core mit 2x 2,1 GHz
    3.072 MB DDR2-RAM/667MHz
    2x 160 GB SATA-HDD

I have around 20 normal websites on my server ( not that intensive ) and 1 forum of normal size. Is this server enough for me and will it not effect the performance of vbulletin much ?

Or I can also take such a server with 7400 RPM HDD's, but the price is higher for this one ( almost 30% ). Please advise what should be anough and what is the difference between both...

    Details of 7400 RPM HDD's:
    Opteron™ 1212
    Dual-Core mit 2x 2,0 GHz
    2.048 MB DDR2-RAM/667MHz
    2x 200 GB SATA-HDD

    Best regards,

  • too slow 5400rpm drives.. the higher price opteron server way to go

    Hi Eva,

There are several places with have dedicated servers. For example www.server4you.de is one the cheapest and best that I could find. Also the fact of un-metered bandwidth is very appealing. Are there any other suppliers which have good quality / price / unmetered bandwidth and good connection to the world ?

    Thanks.

  • If you've got a site that will run off of those servers then you don't need unmetered bandwidth.
