Having a problem with my Betta Fish?

  • The last 2 times i've changed the water of his bowl, the next day he seems to lose control of his swim bladder and floats sideways at the top of the water. he is responsive and swims around when i enter the room, but i'm worried. the last time, i changed his water immediately and it seemed to help, but this time i'm not sure. any expert or person with experience would be a great help

  • the exact same thing happened to me. at first the water change would get him back to normal but then it started to loose effect. you can buy swim bladder medicine in the pet shop and the most important thing now is to soak his food in water before you give it to him so that it is fully expanded when he eats it(and doesn't expand in his belly). just mix the food in a little water until saturated before feeding. don't stop even once will undo all your hard work, believe me! my fish is fine now as long as i keep this up.

  • Is your water chlorinated??? If so that could be the problem.

Also are you allowing the water to sit for a day or two before changing it?
